🩺 US HEALTH CARE Job SYSTEM INEQUALITY – built for profit.. not for ppl 😔
ok lemme tell u straight.. this system wasn’t made to care for everyone, it was made to earn money. yeah sounds harsh but true. when a normal mom working full time can’t even buy insulin without insurance — that’s not accident, that’s plan. people say usa health system is broken, nah.. it’s working exactly how they built it.
historian Zachary W. Schulz from Auburn uni (i think he’s really good tbh) said that politics + profit shaped the whole thing. they called it “freedom of choice” but in reality.. it was freedom to suffer if u can’t pay. 🤦♂️
🏥 how it started (like really started)
back in 1940s.. war time. companies couldn’t raise salaries so they gave health insurance instead. tax free trick. that’s it. no love, no care, just money math. and boom – america linked health care to jobs. other countries added public systems later.. america just said nope, markets only. 🙄
💸 medicare & medicaid came but…
1965, govt tried to fix things. medicare for older people (mostly those who had good jobs). medicaid for poor folks – but they let every state handle it separate. southern states? they didn’t want feds checking who they give to. some states kept it so tight many black families got nothing. 😢 pure politics not policy.
⚖️ same mess today, new excuses
fast forward now. same inequality, new names. some states STILL didn’t expand medicaid. mostly south again. result: 1 in 4 black adults stuck in the coverage gap. earn too much for medicaid, too little for market plan. no preventive care, no dentist, no regular checkup – until emergency hits. then the bills hit harder. 💔
🧾 profitable confusion (no joke)
u ever got a hospital bill that makes no sense? yeah that’s on purpose lol. that chaos earns money. billing codes, insurance networks, “out of pocket” blah blah. they made it confusing so u just pay. this isn’t “dysfunction”, it’s actually function – profitable one. 😤
🗽 freedom or fear ?
they called national care “socialism”. even ronald reagan made a record in 1961 saying “don’t let them bring socialized medicine”. bruh.. europe built fair systems, america built paperwork. and ppl still think it’s about “choice”. crazy right ?
💬 real talk ending
truth is.. usa health care didn’t fail, it succeeded at keeping profits high. changing it means facing that it was never about care. only way to fix is to rebuild it completely – for humans, not shareholders. period.
